About Me

Joseph Ball
Joseph is an author originally from Essex and currently living in the Dorset countryside with his wife and two children. His debut works begin with the publication of book one of the Growing Pains series on February 5th 2026.
Joseph originally began writing a short story for his daughter, hoping to show her the impacts of different upbringings and give her the opportunity to understand how negative experiences in children’s formative years can put them on a very different path from the one she had lived. It was hoped that showing her the difference between her upbringing and his would help her understand why some things that come so easily and naturally to her could be so difficult for him. As the short story grew, it became a book, and when it outgrew a book, it became a series, and before he knew it, the project had grown legs far beyond any expectations. After completing the first book, Joseph approached agents and publishers to explore the possibility of reaching a wider audience and potentially raising awareness among more readers beyond his daughter. After a handful of positive responses, a deal was signed with Chronos Publishing, and the team began working together towards a release date for book one.
Growing Pains has been written by candlelight most days, either at 4 am before work, or at 9 pm after the children have gone to bed, and alongside a full-time job as a retail store manager, it has fast become a labour of love and a routine that has greatly supported mental health regulation. The more the content has flowed out, the more the soul has been soothed.
When Joseph isn’t writing, he is happiest spending time with his family and friends, exploring nature with some very long walks, and challenging himself with a marathon or two! It is Joseph’s dream to open a small bookshop where he can write and work from, with a cosy nook in the corner for customers to read and relax away from the wind and rain.
